This year, we’re introducing a new scheduling system designed to balance your original preseason requests with the flexibility needed to handle rainouts and other changes. Below, we explain how this system works, why we’re making this change, and how you can rely on it week by week.
Why We’re Changing the Scheduling Process
Last season, we published the full season schedule by Week 1, but constant changes (e.g., rainouts, field closures) caused confusion for parents and coaches for the first three weeks.
This year, we’ve created a full season schedule that honors your preseason requests, but we update it knowing what the weather will be, and publish weekly, instead of all at once.
We will publish the remaining full schedule after we are through the first two to three weeks of rain weekends.
The information below references the weekly process we are implementing this year for a few weeks, but it also incorporates our work process methodology. When you read this, please keep that in mind and don’t let it confuse you.
Here’s why:
- More Flexibility: Publishing weekly allows us to adjust for rainouts or field issues without disrupting the entire season.
- Less Confusion: Parents can plan confidently week to week with fewer last-minute changes.
- Trade-Off: You won’t see the full season upfront, but you’ll have a stable schedule for each week.
How the New System Works
We operate on a 2-week scheduling cycle to review, finalize, and publish each week’s games. Here’s the step-by-step process:
Step 1: Week 1 – Schedule Review and Adjustments
- Purpose: We assess the upcoming week’s schedule and make necessary changes.
- Timeline:
- Sunday–Tuesday: We review weather forecasts, field availability, rainouts from prior weeks, and any new immediate updates (e.g., closures).
- Wednesday: We double-check the revised schedule for accuracy and rule compliance (e.g., 8-game minimum, spring break conflicts).
- Thursday: We lock in the schedule for the following week (no further changes after this point).
- Friday: We format the schedule for posting and sharing with referees and towns.
Step 2: Saturday of Week 1 – Schedule Published
